Swiffy from the Minnesota State FairFRESH STAINS
Just spray Swiffy Pre-Wash on the stain and allow it to sit for a few minutes.  If the stain is a little stubborn, apply a small amount of Swiffy, straight from the tube, wet the area and rub it in.  Allow time for Swiffy to remove the stain.  Launder as usual.

STUBBORN and SET-IN STAINS
FIRST DO A COLOR TEST (see below). Use for kool aid, soda pop, mustard, rust, pet stains and all other stubborn stains.  Dampen with white vinegar.  Apply a small amount of Swiffy, straight from the tube.  Cover with a white towel that’s also wet with white vinegar.  Let soak, even overnight if necessary.  Rinse well.  If the stain is getting lighter, you know it is working.  Just leave it on a little longer. Tough stains may require several treatments.

SWIFFY PRE-WASH
Squeeze out a 4-inch stream of Swiffy and add to one pint of warm water in a spray bottle. (You can measure 4 inches on your finger.) Shake well. Spray on fresh stains, rub in, let set and launder as usual. For “set in” stains, see Stubborn Stain Directions.

WHITENING LAUNDRY IN YOUR WASHER
Set your washer for the lowest water setting and use warm/hot water. Dissolve a 5-inch stream of Swiffy for each gallon in your washing machine. (You can estimate the number of gallons.)  Turn the washer on and allow the Swiffy to mix with the water.  You may add a gallon of warm vinegar if the clothes have stubborn stains.  Add clothes and let soak 1 – 2 hours or overnight if necessary.  When soaking has finished, set washer for proper water setting, wash and rinse as usual.

NAIL POLISH
Apply acetone nail polish remover.  (Do not use non-acetone remover.) Rub in Swiffy and let soak until the stain disappears. Rinse with water.

MEDICINE STAINS
Apply rubbing alcohol.   Rub in Swiffy.  Allow to sit until the stain has disappeared.  You may want to cover with towel wet with rubbing alcohol.  Cover with plastic to prevent evaporation.

BALL POINT PEN INK
Dampen with rubbing alcohol.  Rub in Swiffy.  Some ink may dissolve immediately.  Rinse with warm/hot water.  Reapply rubbing alcohol and Swiffy. Cover with a white towel soaked with rubbing alcohol and cover with plastic to keep from evaporating. Let soak overnight.  Repeat if necessary.  Cover with plastic to prevent evaporation.

DRY CLEAN FABRICS, UPHOLSTERY AND DRAPERIES
ALWAYS DO A COLOR TEST.
For fresh stains, wet the area with distilled water and Swiffy.  Make a spray bottle of Swiffy Pre-Wash with distilled water or distilled white vinegar. For stubborn stains use distilled white vinegar and Swiffy.  Rinse well with distilled water.  Distilled water or distilled white vinegar eliminates the possibility of hard water stains.

CLEANING CARPET STAINS OR LARGE STAINS
You treat carpet stains just like you would if the stain were on your clothing.  For fresh stains you can use water and Swiffy or Swiffy Pre-wash. For stubborn stains you can wet the area with white vinegar and Swiffy.  Cover it with a white towel wet with the white vinegar and let soak. Tough stains may require several treatments.

FOR CARPET CLEANING MACHINES:  A day or two before you plan to steam clean your carpet, treat your stubborn stains with Swiffy and white vinegar.  Allow it to soak. Fill the carpet machine with warm/hot water and 12 inches of Swiffy for every gallon of water.  Dissolve and mix Swiffy in water.  You may steam clean the carpet as usual.

HAND CLEANER
Swiffy removes stains and unpleasant odors form your hands.  Wet your hands, apply Swiffy and massage well into your stained hands.  Rinse well. Swiffy is non-toxic.

JEWELRY CLEANER
Swiffy cleans gold, silver and diamonds beautifully.  Just apply a speck of Swiffy to any piece of jewelry and clean with a soft brush and cloth.  Rinse off any reside and dry with a soft cloth/tissue for sparkling results.

HELPFUL HINTS

1. If you don’t know that your fabric is colorfast, do a color test. (See directions for color test.)

2. If your fabric is NOT colorfast use Swiffy Pre-Wash. See directions.

3. When making the Swiffy Pre-Wash, the directions say to use a 4 inch stream of Swiffy.
You can measure the Swiffy on you index finger – a little more or a little less will not matter. (It’s non-toxic and does not hurt your skin.)

4. If your fabric says, “Dry Clean Only,” do a color test to see if fabric is colorfast.
Use distilled water or distilled white vinegar and you won’t get hard water stains on your clothing.

5. Use warm or hot water for Swiffy Pre-Wash. It dissolves better and it removes the stains easier and faster.
If in a hurry you can heat up the Swiffy Pre-Wash in the microwave. Remember to remove the sprayer.

6. Swiffy and white vinegar are used for stubborn stains.
If you warm up the white vinegar in the microwave and apply a little Swiffy, the stain will come out faster.

7. A stain is considered “fresh” if you’ve never used any other stain removal products on it.
It can sit in the laundry for days and still be considered a fresh stain. The stain will probably come out with the Swiffy Pre-Wash.

8. Swiffy always need a liquid to activate it.
If you use water and Swiffy and it’s not working, you can “bump it up” and make it stronger by using vinegar and Swiffy. Then let it soak longer.

9. If the stain is getting lighter, you know it is working. Just leave it on longer or give it another treatment.

10. Use Swiffy Pre-Wash before putting your clothes in the washer. It works great on “ring-around-the-collar” and underarm stains.
Just spray every time you wash a garment and you’ll never have a build-up of stains.

11. Use Swiffy and white vinegar for pet stains. Not only will it remove the stain but it also removes the pet order.

12. For fresh pet stains, you can mix up a spray bottle of Swiffy Prewash with Swiffy and one pint vinegar instead of water.
Just spray for a fresh pet stain and rinse out the residue.

13. Once the stain is gone, wash the garment thoroughly, removing any residue and order. It comes out of the washer clean and order-free.
